Welcome to Hunt and Gather Bee Co.

This is it folks. We’re all in. We’re staking a whole lot on this little company.

Earlier this year we sold our first home, moved in to a rental house, and backed ourselves to chase our dream to start our own small business. We bought our very first hives, and found homes for them on the bush fringes of the southern Coromandel Peninsula. We have been able to set up what we need to begin selling honey, straight to our local customers. So just like that, Hunt and Gather Bee Co. was born.

It has been a huge decision. One that has made us nervous at times. Sometimes we wonder whether we probably should have bought a house for our expanding family, but we knew that if we were going to give this business a shot, we would rather use our own money than start on the back foot and in debt with a business loan.  

While it’s a bit scary, it is mostly seriously exciting! We are beginning to feel really empowered; testing, designing and packing a product that we are really proud of, in exactly the way that we want to. I think that’s the thing about having your own business - while you have a lot of responsibility, you also have a lot of freedom. Freedom to make choices, to choose our own products, and to choose how we market it. Most importantly, we have the freedom to choose the values that we build this company on, and the impact it has on the people involved in it. 

Hunt and Gather Bee Co is about supplying the local market with a premium product with a strong emphasis on being as environmentally sustainable as possible. We are community minded and want to give back to our community when ever we can. We have also chosen to put ourselves behind our product.
